= Amazon FSx File Gateway AWS Sponsored Workshop Overview :toc: :icons: :linkattrs: :imagesdir: ../resources/images == Summary There are three phases or steps to create the Amazon FSx File Gateway Workshop environment. Below is the workshop diagram that shows the entire environment once all three setup phases have been completed. In the *Workshop Diagram*, Region 1 represents the AWS environment where the Amazon FSx for Windows File Server is running. The AWS environment in Region 1 is pre-deployed, except for the FSx File Gateway resource, and instructions to access this environment will be given later in this section. Region 2 is a different AWS Region than Region 1 and simulates a remote environment where the FSx File Gateway is running. This region (Region 2) represents an on-premises site, remote office, branch office, or some facility remote from the AWS region running the Amazon FSx for Windows File Server. For AWS Sponsored workshops, the AWS environment in Region 2 will always be in the N. Virginia (us-east-1) region. - Phase 1 - Access the Region 1 pre-deployed environment hosting the Amazon FSx for Windows File Server - Phase 2 - Deploy the Region 2 environment hosting the remote Amazon FSx File Gateway EC2 instance using AWS CloudFormation in the N. Virginia (us-east-1) region - Phase 3 - Create the Amazon FSx File Gateway service components using the AWS Management Console in Region 1 It will take approximately 2 hours to complete the entire workshop, including 10 minutes to deploy and create Phase 2 and Phase 3 environments and resources respectively. == Workshop Diagram image::fsx-gateway-workshop-architecture-complete.png[align="center"] == Step-by-step Guide IMPORTANT: Follow the instructions given by the workshop administrators on how to log in to the AWS account provided for this workshop.
