Differences Between Eclipse IDE and RCP Versions of JDK Mission Control

Generally, the Eclipse version of the JDK Mission Control Client works identically to the RCP version. Any component in the Eclipse version offers the same functionality and user interface as the comparable component delivered on the RCP. To switch to JDK Mission Control after installation, go to the Mission Control perspective.

The biggest difference between the Eclipse version and the RCP version is the Jump-to-Source feature. Jump-to-Source, described in "Jumping to Application Source", is enabled by the close coupling of the monitoring and profiling tool with the development environment. Jump-to-source allows you to open and view the corresponding source from any Class, Method or frame displayed in Mission Control, provided that the source is on the workspace source path.
